Royal British Legion — Silence in the Square

11.11.11 Remember — We Broadcast The Flagship Armistice Day Event Live on Facebook

The Royal British Legion, one of the UK’s leading charities, tasked Nonsense with streaming the ‘Silence in the Square 2011’ from Trafalgar Square live on Facebook.

The event offers people the opportunity to come together in Trafalgar Square to mark the Two Minute Silence at 11am, preceded by readings and musical performances. A build up to the silence itself started earlier on in the morning with live performances from famous singers and musicians.

Nonsense were responsible for promoting the event to a whole new audience through social media. A Facebook advertising campaign encouraged thousands of members of the UK public to register for updates and reminders about the live event.

During the event people were encouraged to post their live messages through Cover it Live which proved very popular — in the hour we were live, we received hundreds of posts from all over the world!

Nonsense designed and developed a bespoke Facebook tab to house the Live Stream along with email communications for those who signed up. We also developed a webpage for anyone who could not access Facebook, and managed all Facebook advertising and email promotions.
