Giving Macmillan’s Coffee Morning a big caffeine hit
The interactive TweetMap Macmillan use to promote their Coffee Morning fundraiser was in need of a bit of pepping up. We gave it a makeover, making it super-simple for participants to add events, search and interact with tweets on the spot.
The core functionality allows people to add a mug to the Coffee Morning map simply by tweeting using the #coffeemorning tag and their post code — a great way to allow those taking part to tell others about their fundraiser.
The map now has over 1,000 ‘mugs’, each one containing a unique message about someone’s coffee morning. These range from good luck messages and details about how their event is extra special (i.e. if they’re baking something fantastic!), to open invites, so others can search the map, and find a coffee morning near where they live!
As an extra flourish, we built a simple drag and drop system so people could grab a mug and drop it onto the exact location of where they were hosting their event, finding their post code in the process!
We also built-in functionality for the coffee morning community to Retweet and favourite any mugs, and also importantly flag any unwanted tweets for the Coffee Morning team at Macmillan to moderate, deleting any rogue mugs.
